Ashok Kumar graduated with his MBBS and MD degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and obtained his PhD from Tokyo Women’s Medical University, Japan.
He is the Director-Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi. He has a special interest in Maternal Health. He was awarded FOGSI- Corion award, 2008 for best scientific work and Dr Stya Paul Award, 2019 for Excellence in “High Risk Pregnancy Management”.
Dr Kumar has authored the book ‘Essentials of Gynaecology’ and edited the books ‘Common Medical Disorders in Obstetrics’, ‘Drugs in Obstetrics & Gynecology’ and ‘Prenatal Counselling for Optimizing Pregnancy Outcomes’. He is the Secretary of Indian Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ICOG), an academic wing of FOGSI.
